The Rahee Foundation is a non-profit organization registered in Toronto in 2024. We translate books into Persian and publish them, and this is where we sell them.
The reason the foundation exists is straightforward. There are books that Persian readers cannot get. Some are banned outright. Others exist only in versions that have been cut, softened, or rewritten to match what the Iranian state is willing to allow. A reader in Tehran who wants to think seriously about a subject often finds that the serious books on it are missing, and that the ones available all say roughly the same thing.
We pick books that fill those gaps, pay for a proper translation, and print them. Our slogan is “fighting censorship”, which is less a mission statement than a description of the work.
How the money works
We are not a publishing house and there is no investor behind this. Nobody takes a salary from book sales. What you pay covers printing, shipping, and the cost of translating the next book. When a title sells well, the next translation starts sooner. When it doesn’t, it waits.
We do not run advertising. Word of mouth is how most people find us.
What we have published
Our first title is the Persian translation of Daniel Gordis’s Israel: A Concise History of a Nation Reborn, translated by Yasser Qorashi. It is a full, unabridged translation — nothing removed, nothing softened.
